About the Demonstrations: Civic Business | Civic Education | Civic Non-Profit Civic Organizing Inc. | Renewing the Public Congregation Civic Organizing Inc./Civic Organizing Foundation Governing Members: Peg Michels, Tony Massengale, Pam Hayle, Julie Roles, Melinda Patrician, Carol Taylor Organizing a Cross-Sector Base Civic Organizing Inc. develops a cross-sector base of leaders, in Minnesota and across the nation, that has the capacity to transform fundamental institutions of family, community, learning, work, and governance into structures for civic capacity building and democratic governance. The broad political base of working and middle class people whose interests were at one time in enough alignment with democratic principles to support a civic infrastructure is now fragmented and divorced from these interests. The result is a breakdown in the civic infrastructure. Civic organizing seeks to address this situation by organizing citizen-leaders who will take organizing practices deep inside their everyday environments to renew the democratic purpose of their institutions. These leaders work within a cross-sector base so that efforts add up and provide the influence needed to achieve the common good. Civic Organizing Inc. acts as the lead organizer for the Minnesota Active Citizenship Initiative.
